Raptor Banding Highlights from 10/1-10/2

The female Cooper's had a wing length of 255.0mm, while the Sharpie 's wing was 163.5mm.  But, the difference in size is more accurately reflected in their body masses, 507.1g vs. 99.1g, making the Cooper's female a whopping five times larger than the male Sharpie!  Band size-wise, the COHA received a size 5 lock-on band, while the SSHA got a conventional size 2 band (same as a Blue Jay).

As if the usual photographic attention supplied by the authors of this website weren't enough,
the "celebrity" owl had to endure extra attention from our visiting banding paparazzi!

It was even made to do a "location" shoot (in front of the cosmos bed lining the front of banding lab)
in a shameless attempt to catch the attention of a Birds and Blooms field editor!

Of course, everyone wanted to have their picture taken with the owl!
