PICTORIAL HIGHLIGHTS
November 11-17, 2002

  • Thursday-Saturday, November 14-16, 2002: Mornings have been cold, with frost early Thursday and Friday.  Skies were clear Thursday, changing to partly cloudy on Friday; light rain fell most of the day Saturday. Carroll Labarthe helped with the banding Friday and Darlene Madarish helped Saturday.

  • Thursday brought the addition of the 108th species for Fall 2002--a Red-bellied Woodpecker.  The bird (shown below) was a hatching-year female.

  • Wednesday, November 13, 2002: The weather today was cold with a light drizzle in the early morning hours, changing to partly sunny and cool by early afternoon;  a light wind persisted throughout the day.  Darlene Madarish helped with the banding.

  • Although no new species for Fall 2002 were added today, we were able to photograph an individual of a species added just last Thursday.  The Common Grackle (adult male) shown below was one of three COGRs banded during the last round of the day.
