PICTORIAL HIGHLIGHTS
November 11-17, 2002
Thursday-Saturday, November 14-16,
2002:
Mornings have been cold, with
frost early Thursday and Friday. Skies were clear Thursday, changing
to partly cloudy on Friday; light rain fell most of the day Saturday. Carroll
Labarthe helped with the banding Friday and
Darlene
Madarish
helped Saturday.
Thursday brought the addition of the 108th
species for Fall 2002--a Red-bellied Woodpecker.
The bird (shown below) was a hatching-year female.
Wednesday, November 13, 2002:
The
weather today was cold with a light drizzle in the early morning hours,
changing to partly sunny and cool by early afternoon; a light wind
persisted throughout the day. Darlene
Madarish helped with the banding.
Although no new species for Fall 2002 were
added today, we were able to photograph an individual of a species added
just last Thursday. The Common Grackle
(adult male) shown below was one of three COGRs
banded during the last round of the day.
